Receiving the Holy Spirit

Before Jesus left and went on to heaven, He said to his disciples in Acts 1:18

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

God is impressing upon my heart new believers who have yet to walk in the ways of the SPIRIT. God wants to extend the same blessing to you.

"If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!" (Luke 11:13)

In my spiritual family, normally and biblically so, the elders and other Christians lay their hands on us to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

That was how Peter and the disciples would bestow the gift of the Holy Spirit to new believers.

"When they arrived, they prayed for the new believers there that they might receive the Holy Spirit, because the Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit." (Acts 8:15-17)

The Lord is willing to give you the gift of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit will teach you how to pray, He will teach you truth. He is your Counselor and guide. He will empower you to testify. He will enable your calling. He will give you wisdom, skills and direction to fulfill the purpose God has for you.

You will not just witness other people hearing God. You yourself will hear from God. You yourself will experience breakthroughs in prayer. You will experience deliverance.

God will allow the supernatural where you experience daily what it means to live by the Spirit.

Ask God for the Holy Spirit. More of Him in your heart. More of God in your soul. More of the Lord with your family. More of Him in your work.

Ask Him to come into your heart and into your life. Repent and ask the Holy Spirit to dwell on you.

Without the Holy Spirit, we cannot witness like we do. Be confident. He will surely come when you call.

The Holy Spirit is a free gift that we receive from God to enable us to do good works.
