Desolate No More

Never again will you be called "The Forsaken City"
or "The Desolate Land."
Your new name will be "The City of God's Delight"
Isaiah 62:4

Yesterday, we were at our monthly Prayer and Worship night meeting and we were praying for the Philippines. We remembered how the land was a "third world country," "The Sick Man of Asia." Personally what I remembered was the word "desolate" in this particular verse Isaiah 62:4. For a long time our nation was being "deserted" by its own countrymen looking for a "better place." People do not have the freedom to choose their course for they take degrees that will be in demand abroad.

I acknowledge that our economy was strengthened by new heroes - "the OFWs" or "Overseas Filipino Workers." My dad was one of them and I reaped the fruits of his labor, living in another land.

But I believe the Lord is doing a new thing for our nation, a different kind of blessing. We are living in a new work that God is doing. We have to prepare for what God is about to do in this city, in this nation, for its people.

The Lord is saying, "I have posted watchmen on your walls; they will pray day and night, continually. Take no rest, all you who pray to the Lord. Give the Lord no rest until he completes his work. The Lord has sworn to Jerusalem by his own strength: "I will never again hand you over to your enemies. Never again will foreign warriors come and take away your grain and new wine. You raised the grain and you will eat it, praising the Lord. You yourselves will reap from your labor." (A message from Isaiah 62:6-9. A few words were replaced and omitted from which the new message came about. Please check and read your Bibles for yourselves if you wish to know the original verses.)

God has stationed us as the Body of Christ as this nation's watchmen. We will keep praying for this nation. We will keep believing and declaring God's promises for our land.

Lastly, I have a new vision for this country. I saw the nation of the Philippines shining brightly as the Lord pours out his light. The light of the Lord is lifting the darkness from the land. It's like a new light that has just been switched on. Coincidence? Jesus once said that we are the light of the world. The new work entails not just being a light in our families or in our companies. As the corporate Body of Christ, we are really going to be the light of the world. God's Word is eternal. God's word is true. Whatever He says, it will bring the purpose for which He sent it.

"They will rebuild the ancient ruins, repairing cities destroyed long ago. They will revive them, though they have been deserted for many generations."
Isaiah 61:4 (NLT)

You are the light of this world. No longer desolate nor deserted.

God has given us a new name and a new direction.

Let us cooperate with what God is doing for our country for the good of our people and for the good of this nation.

Be blessed!
