Eulogy for Dr. Julieson Tun, Brother and Friend

News of someone's passing reached us yesterday. It was someone I knew when I first started in Church.  Dr. Julieson Tun was in his early 30s. He had worked industriously for years at his own dental clinic near the Far Eastern University in the Philippines. Many of his clients were also from Church. He was a graduate of Centro Escolar University. Unmarried, single but his life was full of relationships and purpose in the service of others in his victory groups, service ministry, singles, and others.  His death is a message to the living to continue on in their race. His may have ended last Saturday but the fruit of his work will remain for all eternity. May you rest well from your sacrifices and toil here on earth and join the Lamb as He gives you your reward - peace, joy, glory, sanctified, victorious, triumphant, loved, and holy with eternal life in heaven.  God bless and Welcome Home. The Philippines 114 Years After Its Independence

Yesterday, I spent some time going back to our nation's roots. I had to. I had trouble with the crimes that as child would watch on TV and got me scared of life. The sad part is there are still traces today close to 20 years after. What a sad reality. And it is not like it's any one person's fault. The enemy does steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10). Our war is not against flesh and blood but against the rulers, the principalities of the dark forces of evil (Ephesians 6:12). Yesterday, I might have a clue as to the root of such crimes. God led me in my research. The enemy still has strongholds in this nation that needs to be broken by the blood of the Lamb.  I recall that our nation's history was the fruit of a number of conquests in the land that left us battle-torn. A power struggle existed between the natives and those who conquered us. There was a deep oppression and a spirit of corruption that prevailed when the Spaniards conquered our islands. People were...

False Prophecies vs True

The Spirit of prophecy is from God. " For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit " (  2 Peter 1:21). However, today I learned that there can also be false prophecies. My verses are in Jeremiah, Chapters 28 to 32.  These are just my learnings, starting from number 1: Learning # 1 : False Prophecies sound like true ones. One thing we have to learn about false teachings is that they sound like the truth but they're not. The prophet Hananiah's false prophecy: " This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: 'I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon. Within two years I will bring back to this place all the articles of the Lord's house that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon removed from here and took to Babylon. I will also bring back to this place Jehoiachin son of Jehoiakim king of Judah and all the other exiles from Judah who went to Babylon,' declares the Lor...

The Nature and Purpose of a Gift

God gave me an amazing insight into the nature and purpose of the gifts He has given us.  One day, I was riding a bus on the way to work. As the bus was packed already and all seats were taken, I had to stand up during the ride. A few drives and this man in front of me gets up and offers his seat. I was grateful and sat down, thanking the man. And then I noticed my seat was too wide and can sit another passenger. I turned to the first lady that I could ask, "Would you like to take a seat?" She thanked me and said she'll be fine. So she did not take the extra space. I asked a second lady, this time she was grateful and said yes. What is the insight as to the nature and purpose of gifts? 1. The nature of a gift is it's free. I just receive it. What are examples of free gifts? Salvation. Salvation is a free gift. We just receive it. It is not given according to a person's standing or good works. It is free. 2. A gift can be refused. Like the first perso...

My Phone History (part 2)

2010: Blackberry Curve 8900 I asked God who used my dad to buy me a Blackberry Curve 8900. Back then, the Blackberry was not at its peak yet in the Philippines. People who had Blackberry phones were rare. The Blackberry symbolized my corporate dreams and making it in the corporate ladder. Even that area of my life, I turned it over to God in 2010. I donated this phone some time ago. Don't do what I did without seeking counsel by the way. 2012 - present : Blackberry Curve 8520 Just when I was so satisfied and content with a simpler Nokia phone, my dad blessed me with this one. I had mixed feelings about it since I did not ask for a phone, nor another Blackberry, but with acceptance, I've realized it was just what I needed. By this time, the Blackberry has reached mainstream in the Philippines. Apple on the other hand and Samsung are intensifying their share of the consumer's pocket. Some say the Blackberry is on its way out now. Trends come and go. Success is...
